Stirling Council is urging residents in Dunblane and Bridge of Allan to make sure they are registered to vote in time for the 16 March local government by-election.

Voters will go to the polls in the ward to have their say on who will represent them on Stirling Council following the death of Councillor Houston in December. Anyone living in the Dunblane and Bridge of Allan ward (Ward 3) who will be 16 or over on 16 March can take part.

There will be one Councillor returned at the election, with the successful candidate having the opportunity to represent community views and make decisions on local services.

To vote in the by-election, you must be registered by midnight on Tuesday 28 February 2023.

You can register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. The process is easy and only takes five minutes.

If you were registered to vote in the last election and your details have not changed, you don’t need to take any action. You will receive a poll card before the election with information on how to vote.

If you have recently turned 16 or moved home, it is particularly important that you make sure you are correctly registered to vote.

If you have any doubts, you can check with the Electoral Registration Office by calling 01786 892289.
