The Council have provided us with an update to the existing trees in Memorial Park. Stirling Council have now marked 24 conifers and 2 maples for removal. This is being put out to contractors, hopefully the works will be completed by the end of September. I am sure many people will be aghast at the number of trees which are due to come down so it is important to say that the trees will be replaced with other non-native species by the Park Steering Group, which includes Stirling Council, the CC and Friends of Bridge of Allan.
We will post updates on the proposed start date when we know more.
There will have to be path closures whilst the works are ongoing. Also as the issue is potentially Phytophthora (although tests don’t confirm this), Stirling Council will be looking to place disinfectant mats down at the entrances to the parks. All cut material will have to remain in the park. As much as possible will be chipped in to the beds.
