At the meeting we discussed 

  • The Police Report delivered by our community policing team.

  • Local Place Plan – update from SC led session on the 20th,
  • Resilience Group
  • Coronation Event – tree planting and volunteer events on May 8th
  • Common Good Fund,   
  • Reports form our Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.

At the meeting we discussed 

  • The Police Report – the police will be visiting senior citizens to advise on Fraud Awareness
  • Christmas Lights – Final financial transactions for this years lights nearly complete.  We will be looking for a replacement PA system.
  • Post Office Closure –  Communications from the Post Office indicate that any remaining branch would be a “Local” branch.  The CC and Cllr Dodds will continue dialog with the PO.  (
  • Community Action Plan  – Discussion on the need to carry our consultation.  A review has shown that many positive outcomes have been delivered since 2011
  • Grit Bins – New and replacement bins have been provided
  • The Larder – The Larder project delivering services in Cornton will continue to run their accounts through the CC.
  • Planning – The Airthrey Kerse Appeal to DPEA has been refused.  The Blairforkie drive appeal to the DPEA is still under consideration.  103 Henderson Street application for 14 apartments approved by SC
  • Reports form our Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.

November meeting minutes now available

At the meeting we discussed 

  • The Police Report – watch out for online selling scams and fraudsters who call you up.
  • Christmas Lights – Emma updated us on the progress with sponsos and planning a switch on ceremony.  Many thanks to all the people who came out on the 3rd , there was a great buzz about the village.  We now feel well prepared to start planning earlier for something bigger for 2023.
  • Post Office Closure –  The post office branch would be closing since Morrisons which tool over McColls was closing the store.  We directed people to Alyn Smith’s user survey (https://alynsmith.scot/2023/01/17/stirling-mp-slams-bridge-of-allan-post-office-closure/.)  Since then the Community Council, the local MP, the local MSP, our local elected members of Stirling Council and the landlord of the post office building have been directly in touch with Post Office Limited to underline the severe impact the closure would have on the town, to reinforce the concerns of the community and to insist that immediate consideration be given to reversing the decision.
  • Community Action Plan  – Heather outlined plans to review the CAP themes and progress made since it was drawn up.  Report back to the community on the progress we have made and then make plans for the future.  We also talked about what Local Place Plans are and how and when one might be drawn up for BofA
  • Common Good Fund – Discover Bridge of Allan talked through their recent work and focus as a development trust.  Their application is to develop a community plan.  We discussed and sought clarity on the different types of plans and stakeholder roles. 
  • Tennis court – contract negotiations ongoing
  • Mine Wood –  SC Greenspace ranger and SC Access Officer meeting Developing Mountain Biking Scotland to discuss trails in Mine woods.  Update in Feb.
  • Guala UCP: a meeting regarding the site development is to be arranged
  • Planning – Revised drawing for the Ivy/Eagleton were discussed.  Blairforkie Drive application has moved to appeal.  The Royal Hotel will be going up for sale.

At the meeting we discussed 

  • The Police Report
  • Recruitment – our newest members Emma, Heather and Robin gave a brief introduction.
  • Tennis court – the refurbishment of the courts is still planned, the next steps are for Stirling Council to arrange for tree and flood surveys to be carried out
  • Christmas Lights – The lights had been inspected and tested.  Work underway to raise sponsorship.  (This has progressed well over the last few weeks, this lights are now up! Switch on is happening Dec 3rd, you can keep these lights shining for the next few years by supporting our Crowdfunder)
  • Community Grit Bins – A full survey of the bin situation has been completed. 4 new locations to be proposed to Stirling Council.
  • Mine Wood – Stirling Council had been to look a the site where bike jumps had been created and trees damaged.  We will work so that all users of the woods can enjoy safe and equal access.   
  • Community Planning – We discussed the Community Action Plan which is ready for updating. (Work is now progressing to take stock of what we have achieved of the plan to date).  We also talked about Local Place Plans which will feed into the Council’s Local Development Plan.
  • Planning – We are working on adding more planning content to our website.  2 Applications of interest . A house in Lecropt.  Change of the old Tesco building to a Dentists – refused on a few grounds (since re submitted), decisions still awaiting for Blairforkie drive, Lecrop Hill, The Ivy hotel.

  • Tennis court – Funding from the Lawn Tennis Association being applied for to refubush the 2 courts.
  • Christmas Lights – a lights inspection to be held to assess condition.
  • Communinty Grit Bins – SC are open to requests for additional bins, Robin looking into the current state and situation of the bins.
  • Henderson Street Speeding  – we clarified a number of matters on the street designs and intentions with the bus stop.
  • Planning – Alastair updated us on some significant applications regarding the old Ivy Hotel, Blairforkie Drive and Lecropt.
