Since our last update in December the Sunnylaw Action Group has been working on options and idea for the possible purchase of, and future use of, the land on Sunnylaw Road (shown in the map below).
The land will be sold at a closing date at the end of March, and we want to gather as many community views as possible to help us decide on next steps.
You can complete the survey here Https://www.SurveyMonkey.com/
The surevy will be open until Friday 15th of March.
Please share the survey across your contacts and networks.
The group will meet fortnightly until the end of March, with further progress updates shared via our website and social media.
We often play family football or touch rugby in this space when we have an extended family gathering. I also see people doing keep fit classes here. It’s a great community asset and it would be shame if the amenity is lost.
This field is vital open space for all ages but absolutely essential for children as the only play park in Bridge of Allan is across a busy main road and is in any case, very small.. it would be a tragedy if this space were eventually end up in the hands of developers who might be able to bide their time and hold in to the land for future use if regulations change.
This piece of land should be kept under the ownership of the local community and I would support an application to the Common Good Fund, or any other source of funding available to help to achieve that goal.
I feel this area should have limitations on it’s use, ideally being designated as permanent open space. To build houses here would irretrievably destroy the unique character of this part of Bridge of Allan
