Following an exhausting enquiry by the Reporter which included 2 days of video debate on housing land supply the Reporter, citing the importance of the Green Belt between Bridge of Allan and Causewayhead and the importance of the identity of the two towns recommended that the planning application be refused.
The Scottish Government endorsed the Reporters findings and refused the application.

Thank goodness, commonsense has prevailed
A most welcome and common sense decision.
Thanks are due to both Communities for the long standing objection campaign on our behalf.
Local democracy is alive and well
A great result for stirling and bridge of allan communities. As I previously commented in a letter to stirling observer this land should now be bought or handed over to a community trust and developed as community parkland. Never again to be seen as a commercial opportunity for greedy landowners
This is a pleasing outcome. I really hope there is no further appeal by the applicant to the Court of Session.
This is a significant decision and one welcomed by the local community. It’s pleasing to see sensibility avail at long last. This proposal was never anything more than a blatant cash cow (excuse the pun, sorry), with no realistic benefit to the community. The negatives have always far outweighed the expansion of the village onto green belt land (especially an area renowned for flooding!). Let’s just hope there isn’t another loophole for them to take this further in the future.
