Bridge of Allan Community Council are Recruiting. We are looking for new members to join the Community Council as co-opted members until full elections are held in 2023. We are also looking for minute takers.

Minute Taker Role

We are looking for someone to join us as a minute taker for our meetings. This role is paid at £40 per meeting. You would need to attend our meetings which are at the Allan Centre between 7.30pm and 9.30pm on the third Tuesday of the month (with breaks in July and December). The minutes would then need to be produced. Take a look at copies of past meeting minutes to get a flavour of the depth of discussion. We think it is very important to capture the full content of the discussion both to keep the community informed and for ourselves to refer back to. If you are interested in this position, have any questions or want to find out more then please get in touch via contact@ccbridgeofallan.org.uk.

Cycling and Walking Stories

Cycling and Walking Stories

Many have enjoyed walking, wheeling and cycling for work, school and leisure over the past year. Stirling Council would like to capture some of these positive walking, wheeling and cycling stories in a report that’s being produced this year. If you know someone that has a positive story to tell, please do get in touch with Andrew Scoles (scolesa@stirling.gov.uk) by Wednesday 12th May for more information.

Sustrans’ project, currently known as Bike Life, is a big-picture report into walking and cycling in 18 cities across the UK. Formerly with a primary focus on cycling, the project is expanding in 2021 to include more information on what it’s like to be a pedestrian or wheelchair user in the city too.

They are looking for

  • Anyone with a personal story and/or a lot to say around active travel in Stirling and BofA
  • Someone who engages in a reasonable amount of active travel in Stirling and BofA. This may be for work or volunteering purposes, to encourage others within the community to cycle, or as a fundamental way to get around as part of their daily life
  • Someone with an inspiring story about how active travel helped them improve part of their life
  • We especially encourage participation by people from ethnic minorities, those from diverse racial backgrounds, those who have a disability, those on lower incomes, people with protected characteristics and those who wouldn‘t class themselves a  stereotypical” cyclist or walker for any reason.

You will be asked to give some time to tell your story and get your photo taken.  Get in touch with Andrew Scoles (scolesa@stirling.gov.uk) by Wednesday 12th May for more information.

Local Community Response to Covid-19 – Volunteers wanted

Local Community Response to Covid-19 – Volunteers wanted

Stirling Council and Stirlingshire Voluntary Enterprise (SVE) are now asking volunteers and local community groups to register and be part of a co-ordinated response to the Covid-19 emergency. By volunteering you can make a big difference in your area and on a national level.

We are developing a recognised, formal Stirling area wide network to support those in need at a local level. By being part of a formal coordinated effort, our response will be stronger and safer for those vulnerable individuals and families needing support.

Stirling Council and SVE are fully tied in to the national volunteering agencies and their campaigns.

The www.investinstirling.com/key-sectors/volunteering site will allow community groups and individuals to register their interest, by registering you are helping us to provide co-ordinated support across the Stirling area.

Please register

  • As individuals who would be willing to become Befrienders, Volunteer drivers, Volunteers assisting with essential groceries and collecting prescriptions or to assist with food preparation for vulnerable people.
  • As local community groups who can organise a local response and provide assistance in their area. Individual members of groups need not register just a primary contact.
  • As third sector organisations who can support the collective effort or commit resources at a local level.

After registration, you will be contacted by a Local Co-ordination Team in your area. We will ensure that all volunteers’ health & wellbeing is protected by following all official guidelines related to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Thank you for your continued support.
