The recycling facility at Bridge of Allan is to be removed as part of an initiative to enhance the car park at the Co-op. Stirling Council Waste Services have experienced difficulties in maintaining high standards of cleanliness around these banks due to misuse and have subsequently taken the decision to remove them. The Service is committed to achieving the highest rate of recycling and would advise customers that an additional recycling box for glass is available on request. In addition to this, cans and plastic can be placed in your blue bin and paper and card can be placed in your green bin. Additional recycling facilities are also available at Lower Polmaise Waste Management Facility.
This is a good move. The only objection I can see is that some people who live in flats may not have the facilities for recycling that others have, and may not be able to get to Polmaise.
This is just appalling for a whole lot of reasons, but mostly because the Council cannot come to some arrangement with the Coop to keep the space tidy and clean. What about recycling fabrics? Just landfill bins I suppose: not everyone can drive all the way to the Polmaise site. And what about the other bin for clothes and shoes etc? This is a bad and lazy decision!
Wonder if SEPA were consulted ? http://www.gov.scot/resource/0040/00404095.pdf
