Police Scotland have shared their report covering 17th November 2020 – 17th January 2021. Read the report here.
CPT officers have carried out hand held radar speeding checks in Cornton Road and Henderson Street, Bridge of Allan and a total of 6 motorists warned regarding vehicular speed.
In addition, Pop-up-Bob, a lifelike cut out of a police officer holding a hand held radar speed monitoring device, had been deployed in Kier Street, Henderson Street and Sheriffmuir Road to encourage motorists to slow down in built up areas.
This has generally been well received by the community and is another tool being used to impact positively on vehicular speed.
There needs to be a police speed gun setup for Keir Street as well as there is regular excessive speeding every day, it’s not just Henderson Street.
Absolutely agree about the speeding on Keir Street and Fountain Road is frightening too – cars speeding off the roundabout and accelerating as they head towards the village.
I don’t understand the rationale for making parts of the village 20mph and the rest 30mph – why not bite the bullet and make all our towns and villages 20mph and safer?
I agree that speeding in most parts of the village is an issue, but if not enforced, speed limit signs are of no value. They are currently ignored throughout the area and, sadly, some of the locals are the worst culprits. A severe clampdown over a concerted period may help.
Exactly the same for speeding the minute they have crossed the bridge towards Keir roundabout they speed up past the train station. Supposed to be a 30mph zone up to Lecropt Nursery.
Don’t get me started on the number of near misses at the mini roundabouts at Station rd/Henderson st and Blairforkie drv/Henderson Street.
