Climate Change Sustainability Survey

Climate Change Sustainability Survey

Stirling Council is calling for a community response to the Climate Emergency with the launch of a sustainability survey.

The local authority is developing a Stirling-wide programme of action to tackle the ongoing climate emergency and is seeking community views on how to overcome the challenges faced across the region to protect the environment.

Council convener for Environment and Housing, Jim Thomson, said: “Everyone wants Stirling to be a greener, healthier and more sustainable place to live and that is the responsibility of everyone who lives and works here.

“We need the support from the wider community, including our businesses, to make some of the real, lasting change that will protect Stirling for the future and this survey gives people the chance to express their views, tell us what needs to change and will help us shape our plans for the immediate and long-term future.”

The survey comes on the back of last week’s announcement of a Climate Emergency public drop-in event to be held at the Albert Halls on Wednesday, 18 March.

Stirling Council residents and businesses are invited to join the Council and local organisations at the city centre venue for a drop-in session to discuss the climate crisis and the work being done to protect the environment.

Attendees will be able to fill out the survey at the event and anyone not able to attend on the day will be able to access it online here until 31 May.

Vice convener for Environment and Housing, Cllr Danny Gibson, added: “We need to gain a better understanding of how local people view the challenges and opportunities of the Climate Emergency to encourage everyone to take action.

“The Council is beginning that engagement with this survey to gauge the level of support for a range of actions that individuals, the Council and our partners could take. We also want to understand the barriers that prevent people from making changes that would benefit everyone.

“The survey is simple, can be completed quickly, and will be invaluable in shaping our plans to tackle the Climate Emergency in Stirling.”

Policing for a safe, protected and resilient Scotland – Consultation

Policing for a safe, protected and resilient Scotland – Consultation

From Police Scotland

Good afternoon,

We are writing to you today to ensure that you are aware of Police Scotland’s and the Scottish Police Authority’s Consultation on our refreshed Joint Strategy – ‘Policing for a safe, protected and resilient Scotland’, which aims to set the future direction for policing in Scotland.

The strategy takes an outcome-based approach. The five strategic outcomes laid out provide a sharp focus on the key strategic challenges and opportunities facing policing and the wider public sector. Through our ongoing conversations with the public, partners and our people, we have taken account of feedback provided so far, shaping the design and delivery of policing now and in the future, and considering the opportunities and challenges ahead.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Our purpose to keep people safe in both the physical and digital world with further development of the policing response to cyber threats and cyber enabled crime;
  • Prioritising the wellbeing, safety and protection of our people;
  • A renewed emphasis on partnership and pro-active prevention, including a focus on joint service design to tackle complex public safety and wellbeing challenges;
  • Embedding a policing service that is delivered locally, drawing on the assistance of national assests;  and
  • Emphasising the action to address environmental and climate change issues.

A period of public and stakeholder engagement is currently underway and will run until 2 March 2020. We will be collecting feedback via the Citizen Space survey platform which can be accessed here:

https://consult.scotland.police.uk/consultation/policingforscotland/

There is also a paper version attached should that be your preference. Through this consultation we want to hear from you about what you think about the future vision we have developed and described in this Strategy. Please feel free to share this with your colleagues, communities and networks to participate.

Many thanks in advance,
