All the plastic ever made is still on our planet and will be for hundreds of years. Pupils at Beaconhurst school are concerned about the effects of plastics in the environment and are working in a plastics focus group in which we aim to investigate the effects and minimise the impact of plastics, particularly one-use plastics.
We are coordinating an event called “Plastic legacy” in which we will raise awareness of the plastic problem. We understand that changing our addiction to plastics requires behavioural changes and that is something that can be challenging. Our event will gather like-minded people that want to minimise their effect on the environment but need some support to do so.
Our event will include the following activities:
• A presentation describing the uses and attributes of plastics
• A presentation describing the negative impact of one use plastics
• Ideas that you may be able to implement in your home/business/organisation to minimise your plastic footprint
• Opportunities for networking with local businesses as well as teachers and pupils that are interested in collaboration
We are inviting a range of people from the community to our event including representatives from pupils from local businesses and the eco committees of other local schools. We plan on reporting on our event to the local media and on social media.
We hope that you will see this issue as worthwhile and would like to participate. This is a FREE EVENT.
