The speed limit on the A9 will be changing between from 3rd May for 18 months as part of the spaces for people project. This will see the 30mph limit extended from the station to Lecropt church, and a new limit of 50mph from there to the Kier roundbout. See this map for the location of the changes
I do not see how reducing the speed limit on a road where nobody lives helps“ assisting in the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic”? I do not agree with this ever increasing “creep” of regulations around BofA
Hi Clifford, the idea for the spaces for people project is to make it safer and more appealing for people to walk and cycle. The changes will benefit people walking or cycling between Bridge of Allan and Dunblane, visiting Park of Kier, Carse of Lecropt or dropping off at the nursery.
Quite right: great idea! Get people walking and cycling more and enjoying our wonderful countryside 🙂
Considering that there is no policing of the 20 MPH speed limit within Bridge of Allan, I believe this is just another waste of valuable time and resources in implementing and processing this unnecessary change. Perhaps a wee bit of the popular sport of Virtue Signalling by the local authorities.
As a resident who lives by the station and can see and judge the speed of traffic from my window this proposal is just another load of pc rubbish What is needed are totally separate cycle and walkways. This is the only safe answer. Some form of chicane could be the answer to reducing speed
on the road by the station or a camera. It is no no joke trying to turn right from my street on to the A9
More talk with local residents might help no one has asked me.
As someone who cycles up there regularly, what’s needed is for cars to go slower and to ‘safe pass’ – not for cyclists to be banished off the roads that we’re perfectly entitled to use. Bicycles were around long before cars! I think the reduced speed limits are a great idea 🙂
